Favorite Budget Synth/Sequencer. EA-1

Thats right!!! Korg's EA-1 is awesome. For the price it can't be beat $60-100 on eBay. This has to be the best deal around. MkI and MkII versions may have some extra bells and whistles, but who needs those. It really reminds me of the MS-2000. I wonder if they are the same engine, better sequencer by far is in EA-1. The delay is virtually identical sounding. Now the real question is can this be Bent? Probably. Board pictures will be up soon.

I completely agree. I mostly own what would be called "budget" instruments, but this is the one I keep coming back to repeatedly in the 2+ years I've had it. I've gotten the most amazing range of sounds and expressiveness and just plain weirdness out of this little machine - I even had a friend with a Mini tell me it does quite a good Moog impression! Rock on, Korg!

Yeah, they're basically the same synth engine.

There's not much inside one of those-- basically one or two big chips plus some audio amp-type stuff. It's all DSP...
