Dutch Talking Scholar

While browsing the ultra minimal webpage of the Dutch musician Kassen, I came across his Bent VTech Talking Scholar. Nothing too impressive really, except for the fact that is it a Dutch speaking device. The sound sample is most entertaining though, little boring at first but alot better later on, Listen Here. The last image is the guy's studio, Yikes!

Kassen is Dutch, and he is also the co-creater of the Nautilus synth with Danny (Legowelt) Wolfers.

Nice page!
The Nautilus was a project in matching up a set of bend guitar pedals and asorted related stuff. We wanted to include a sampler from a sampling plastic parrot but sadly our bird was fried in the process.... That whole project was a huge mess; wires everywhere. We wanted to perform live with it, using that one and a no-input mixing desk; it was capable of some feedbackloops that were realy interesting, I played a whole game of chess while it ran, repeating a patern that kept mutating. In the end it grew stale and boring but that was after half a hour. We also jamed with that and a record player, doing "remixes" of some old acid. It seems the whole nautilus has gone missing. I don't think it was ever recorded. I wish I could find more of those 10euro patch matrixes.
The only usefull bit about the talking schollar is that with some switch settings you can play melodies on the little keyboard. That's good fun. Sadly it seems that some of those switches need reconecting, probably due to rough handeling on tour with Bangkok Impact.
I'm still thinking about some decent aplication for the Amstrad in the "studio" image.
Thanks for featuring me.
-Kassen.
