Coco Rosie
So the other day I was listening to Coco Rosie
at a friends house. I've heard of the band before, however never actually listened to their music. This time my friend was all like, "This stuff is awesome!!!" From what I've heard on the La Maison de Mon Reve record Coco Rosie used some circuit bent stuff played haphazardly in the background with the guitar and voice on top, take a listen to this sample. I guess it is nice to see people working with bent gear to make music and actually score record deals. I wonder if they modified their own gear or got it on eBay. Also as an interesting point they are from Fort Dodge, Iowa! Wow, too bad I didn't know them before they got famous, I'd be hella connected. Enjoy the music everyone and extra points to whoever IDs the toy in the clip.

i don't believe they actually bend the toys. at least this is the first time i've seen "cocorosie" and "circuit bent" in the same article. i think they just grabbed whatever sounded good from a parisian store near the apartment they were recording in. sorry, but then again i could be wrong.

At the risk of sounding just like my father, let me say:
Anyone who sings folk rock with their mouth shaped like they are saying "ar" should be drug out into the street and shot.
I couldn't handle listening to it, sorry.

yeah, i've seen them live, the toys don't look or sound bent, but they do a great job at capturing the noise from them. I like their stuff ok, but it gets old fast-- too gimmicky. They do pull this stuff off pretty well live.
Brainwashed seems to hate them:

Likewise, I couldn't deal with the singing. The video on their label's artist page for Noah's Ark was pretty interesting, visualy. I had to mute it.

If you want to listen to some really good circuit bent music form people with a record deal, then why not just listen to Team Doyobi or Autechre? I'd sight Team Doyobi's 'Choose your own adventure' as the finest example of commercial circuit bent music, it's an awesome record (with fantastic artwork too!)

I have seen them play a couple of times and they are not using any Circuit Bent devices. Just cool toys that people would like to bend!
