10 Step Sequencer from DG
DynamoGenesis posted a pic of his new 10 step sequencer on LiveJournal. The circuit uses a 4017 decade counter IC with some small variations. A 555 clock oscillator is still needed to keep the sequence from going haywire as seen in the video, but I think its kind of cool to have random notes like this. This unit is going to be sold on eBay very soon, we'll see what it brings.

Oh thanks for posting it homie! In the video I was using the pyscho LFO as the clock, which made it seem all crazy and shizzle.
I finished the 555 clock and it looks nice and shiny!
It very steady with the 555 clock. Though in my next model, I'm going to include switches for each step for easier control.

"we'll see what it brings"? please, man. do you get off on that? that shit is really starting to make me sick.
you and all the other less-learned capitalist copycats who make this droll shit [or support the making of it] for money [from suckers] but couldn't begin to explain how it works...

I thought I did explain how it works and was even kind enough to post a link. And besides, there are those who do and there are those who do and sell on eBay. If people are willing to give money for this stuff then more power to them. They earned it and they have the right to spend it on whatever they wish. Be it an 8-Ball and a night with a fancy hooker or a 10 step sequencer.

Dear anonymous:
Sorry, but I call b*llsh*t. So people shouldn't make stuff and sell it for money? Or are you criticizing people like me who buy it?
The fact is that I know that with enough time and patience I could make this myself. With enough time and patience I can change the oil in my car, rewire my house, cook everything from scratch or build a fence too. There are lots of people who have an interest in this but have chosen to not invest a chunk of time into building our own instruments; our loss, I know, but there are only so many hours in a day. Right now I'd rather make music with the little time I have left at night.
Now, if this is in fact "droll shit", that is another question; does this have something new to offer or is it just the same old thing in shiny new clothes. If that's your take, I'd be genuinely interested in hearing it. And give some of us a little credit that we're not just going to swoop in a pay a grand for every new box that blips and blops.
But if you're just being sour grapes that people are spending money on something that consists of $40 in parts that you know how to make yourself, well, consider yourself lucky, I guess. Just say it better than calling me a capitalist sucker.

why ten steps? no one likes 5/4.

seems pretty lazy, since its a DECADE counter... could have made it more useful and put a reset on step 9.

I'm filthy rich, I owe it all to my homebrew electronic instrument store on eBay.

I'll admit, I voted Bush, did it for the tax breaks.

There is an option for that. The reset is routed to a 1/4" jack.
An example of how it works: Plug the reset to jack 5 and you will get 1, 2, 3, 4, then it will recycle. Route it to jack 9 and you'll get 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. Etc etc

Better videos would be nice, the two I saw weren't that amazing.

Personally, I think the fact that it has 10 steps is totally cool.
Every sale and trade in this stuff encourages new instruments, new thinking, new hobbies, new businesses and a whole lot of people having fun and spending time doing things they like.
So, I'm happy to see lots more.

$75 for the LFO and a little over $100 for the sequencer! Somebody got some great deals.
The parts and enclosures alone probably cost him at least $50 and I am sure he put alot more than $100 worth of his own time into those items.

Thanks for keeping an eye on that. Yeah thats not incredibly high for those items, probably because they were not packaged as standalone ready to rock products better. I think having lots of knobs and switches and jacks can be confusing for some people. But thats also the luck of the draw that is eBay.
