This crack distortion unit is
finally up for sale from Phil of
Ruin projects. The design is a simple but very
effective utilization of the low voltage audio amp IC
LM386. The spec claims only a 0.2% Total Harmonic distortion, however the actual distortion seems more when gain is all the way up. Some distortion probably comes from signal transfer between the output and the input of whatever device you are using to record or play back with due to impedance and phase mismatching. All good effects if you are looking for nice distortions. <

Hello there, I am glad to have you with us. Please start by reading the past archives. I also recommend getting a few books on the matter, there is a really good beginners Circuti Bending book by Q R Ghazala and also there are lots and lots of useful electroncis books through the Amazon links on the site.

Why is the switch so close to the knob?

You should see the inside of it. since its so small, its really cramped. so the only place i could fit the knob, led and switch is where they are. but they dont really inhibit and movement or anything.
