circuit bent sega mega driveschematic for circuit bending a sega mega drivecircuit bent sega mega drive

While browsing for something new to post I came across a new mod on the Gieskes.NL website. This time we have a circuit bent Sega Master System II with an RCA patchbay. Gijs was also nice enough to post a schematic refering to the IC which the patchbay was wired to. There are stills as well as some really neat videos on the site. It looks like certain patches only distort the scenes and not the actual characters or gameplay. Great for lofi visuals!

This acoustic piezzo trigger to serial interface is indeed pretty ghetto, but never to less there is plenty of great information on NoisyBox.net about programming a Pic Microcontroller for building such a device. The creator decided to use strait serial protocol for triggering samples through a custom application running on a PC and not through standard MIDI. Also housing projects in an external drive case does have advantages. Its cheap, rugged, and has a nice power supply built-in, so the circuit does not have to rely on battery power. The cases can always be painted if needed.

This sweet video of a Unicorn Hard-on performance demonstrates darn well what it was like at the International Noise Conference held in Miami earlier this year. Awesome noises from a pair of Electribes in a no laptop setting with plenty of knob tweakage. Rock On! If anyone has an idea where I can watch the whole thing, feel free to comment. Otherwise enjoy and check out the Unicorn Hard-on Myspace page.

Stag Injector's Devil Johnson Keyboard

This Casio SK-1 has been painted and hellishly circuit bent by Stag Injector. On 6/6/6 I posted about the work in progress but it was not until just recently when the project was completed. Lots of custom paint and a light activated Devil insignia in place of the speaker completes the instrument. A 30 minute jam with the keyboard should serve as enough proof that this is indeed a Devil’s Johnson.

Flaming Lips Wayne Coyne with Circuit Bent Keyboard

Flaming Lips Using Circuit Bent Keyboard Live 2Flaming Lips Using Circuit Bent Keyboard Live
The new Flaming Lips album “At War With the Mystics” has some Circuit Bent Animal Farm action on it. Wayne Coyne also posed with his keyboard ( Pictured Above ) for the Keyboard Mag’s article on the new album. As a side note, Keyboard Mag has atleast one mention of “circuit bending” every issue that I get now. Wayne’s keyboard seems to have only one rather large silver knob controlling the pitch, but it would be most interesting to find out if he built the device or had someone else do it. Props will go out in either case. The lower images are from live performance and there are lots and lots more interesting shots of the Lips on Flickr from the current tour which looks to be buckets and buckets of fun.
