Looking forward to the show!
What is this shit? This is my own home town and I can’t even get in because they set an age limit!? What crap.
Midwest? Looks like fun but I’m not too sure about the title… you dicide:
RothMobot: Chicago
CremeDeMentia: Dekalb (Chicago suburb)
Talking Computron: Beverly Hills (California that is)
Factory Smoke: Ravinia (Chicago suburb)
Sounds Happy: Chicago
Cliplead: Chicago
Seems like its more like a Chicago scene show to me. Im guessing that there are benders/groups in the midwest (a google search reveals the midwest includes Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin) that feel left out by this title.
Guess im just sick of scensters (no offense of course) thinking they are the only ones making anything – or implying they are the “showcase” of an entire geographical region – when they are just friends from across town (or worse via myspace). Im guessing there are plenty of ‘uncool’ folks making some great bends in their basements throughout the midwest.
Don’t mean to offend anyone… Just thought I’d throw that out there for the little guy.. Holla if you hear me little guy!
But I wholeheartedly agree with the first comment on this topic:
viva GetLoFi….
Ok, yes — before everyone goes crazy. It says VIA GetLoFi… I will try to read better next time.
But i still stand by what I thought it said: Viva GetLoFi.
Its all about the Hype nowadays. I agree the lineup is not completely representative of everyone, but hey we take what we can get.
Bent Fest in MN will be awesome though, lots of MidWest acts!
Talking Computron is actually from Iowa, so we got 2 states of out 10.
I’d actually love to meet more benders from WI, Anyone out there!
Here’s what I have just off the top of my head…
Wisconsin: Int_Routine, Steveglitch, Igloo Martian, life as number five., Albino Ghost Monkey, Saul, Redd Interprises, Tiger Claw Records, Anyone else representing the cheese state?
circuitmaster-
maybe you could post a “roll call” type blog for the midwest. highlight the states listed above. maybe even make it so you could post yourself and location in comments and website and such. or maybe even on one of those map things like on that google website. (maybe that’d be hard, but cool) haven’t seen anything like that before for the audio experimenter/bender. may be interesting just to know who is where. could spark collaborations or fist fights. either way itd be interesting. please think about it.
i would also like to say i enjoy the crest whitestrips ad on this page. benders: whiten your teeth and smile!
Interesting idea. Yeah a map would be nice for people to chime-in on. Myspace is not visually representative enough. I’ll consider that. It may take some programming efforts though.
Sort of like, click on the state and get a directory listing.
OT: Heh the ads are random more-less from a selected list of products. Whitestrips happen to be a product that I don’t mind plugging because its as common as deodorant nowadays and its a good deal on Amazon.
I kind of don’t think that anyone would care if you aren’t 21+ at this place, I don’t ever remember them carding at the door before; it’s a bar AND coffee-place and pretty chill, so I think if you were to show up, you probably will be ok. Maybe call ahead, I don’t know. Also, I think that the complainer from earlier needs to consider how many shows that even come close to having that many noise acts from AT LEAST two midwestern states that would be more deserving of being dubbed “midwest.” Probably a very short list.
Lofi Fest Was the Midwest Outbreak! But it just happened that way. I think it’s hard to get people to travel. Hope we do it again! SOON!
I do know Toy Death is coming over from Australia to play the Midwest MPLS Bent Fest. So that is a hike for them. Plus I’m working on booking them a show here in Madtown!
I agree the map thing sounds like a good idea.
HEY CM, Man It looked like it was a blast! Gotta get sumptin’ put together for the mid South somehow, “Them thar YANKEE circuit benders is havin’ ALL the fun!”
It was a blast indeed. I will have some videos to post very soon. The south needs to step up.
South: Step up, but please don’t rise again.
